Context:
The unifying theme of this unit centers on the concept of PERSPECTIVE/POINT OF VIEW. Students in second grade may not yet realize that everyone looks at things differently based on their feelings and experiences, and that even characters in literature have a point of view. Authors and illustrators use specific techniques to help the reader understand these differing viewpoints. The purpose of this unit is to study this concept and to help students become more aware of the ability to acknowledge and understand the point of view of others. Throughout this unit, students will read both literary and informational texts, engage with technology, and interact in cooperative groups to identify key ideas to build deeper meaning.
