2012 Induction Academy offers participants the opportunity to earn 2 Maryland State Department of Education Credits based on Local Education Agencies' (LEA) approval. As part of Maryland's reform efforts, MSDE will conduct a Teacher Induction Academy in June 2012 to train Induction Program Coordinators and new teacher mentors from each school district (LEA) in Maryland. The Academy for summer 2012 will focus on ensuring that teachers at every Maryland public school participate in a high quality program of induction into the teaching profession. New Teacher Center facilitators will be the instructors for the Teacher Induction Academy. New Teacher Center is a one-of-a-kind national resource dedicated to accelerating new teacher development and impacting student achievement by supporting the design and implementation of high quality teacher induction programs. All of the instructors for the Teacher Induction Academy are highly trained mentors and facilitators and are contracted under the Race to the Top Grant.

The 2012 Teacher Induction Academy is 21 hours of classroom instruction and 18 hours of online follow-up instruction.
