2013 Summer Academy

The Maryland State Department of Education and the New Teacher Center were proud to host the third Teacher Induction Academy June 25-27, 2013 at Turf Valley in Ellicott City, MD. Approximately two hundred and thirty-three Induction Coordinators and teacher mentors from around the state of Maryland met to gain knowledge and skills in mentoring teachers. The 2013 Teacher Induction Academy included a customized experience “Mentoring for the Common Core: Reaching All Students” with culturally responsive teaching, knowing your students, social emotional learning and technology tools/protocols for success. It featured skilled facilitators from the New Teacher Center, small group discussions and collaboration across school districts to build and sustain a consistent induction program for all teachers new to Maryland's school districts.
