2012 Summer Academy

The Maryland State Department of Education and the New Teacher Center hosted the second Teacher Induction Academy June 26-28, 2012 at The Crown Plaza Hotel in Timonium, MD. Two hundred and thirty-four Induction Coordinators and new teacher mentors from around the state of Maryland met to gain knowledge and skills in mentoring new teachers. The 2012 Teacher Induction Academy featured skilled facilitators from the New Teacher Center, small group discussions and collaboration across school districts to build and sustain a consistent induction program for all teachers new to Maryland's school districts. The second Academy provided new mentors engagement in the content delivered during the first Academy. Advanced mentors and program leaders gained new skills with mentoring in complex situations and issues of equity.
