Visit the Alt-MSA section under Assessments to find out more information about Alt-MSA.
Beginning in the 2015-2016 school year, the Alt-MSA assessments for math and reading will be discontinued.
The Alternate MSA (Alt-MSA) was the Maryland assessment in which students with disabilities participate, if through the IEP process it had been determined they could not participate in the Maryland State Assessment (MSA) even with accommodations.
Alt-MSA assessed and reported student attainment of individually selected indicators and objectives from the reading and mathematics content standards. A portfolio was constructed of artifacts that documented individual student growth in the assessed reading and mathematics objectives. Students’ proficiency levels would have been included in districts' AYP reports.
