Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, the MSA assessments for math and reading were discontinued and those students will take the PARCC assessments.

The Maryland School Assessment (MSA) was developed by Maryland to comply with the requirements of NCLB. MSA assessed the state content standards in reading, mathematics and science.

The MSA data results included students in grades 3 through 8 who took either MSA or Mod-MSA. Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the Mod-MSA was discontinued and those students began taking the MSA.

Understanding how your students performed on MSA will help you identify which state content standards your school or district has met and on which standards you need to improve. In addition to accessing graphs of each school and district's performance on MSA, you will find some tips in how to lead the data analysis discussion, some suggestions for next steps, and links to additional information about MSA. We have provided printed versions of your school or district's key graphs for use in printed communications or offline discussions. However, analyzing the data offline does preclude accessing the animated audio tutorials and the information linked online.
